Florida homestead question of the day
Do backyard ducks need a pond?
Ducks do not require a full pond, but they need clean water deep enough to immerse and clear their bills and eyes.
A manageable bathing setup is often healthier than a neglected pond. Drinking water must remain available even when bathing water is being cleaned.
What to do
- Provide easy entry and exit.
- Drain water where it will not saturate bedding.
- Refresh dirty water frequently.
- Keep ducklings from chilling or becoming trapped.
