Florida homestead question of the day

How often should chickens get fresh water during a Florida summer?

Check every water station several times daily and refresh it whenever it is hot, dirty, low or unavailable.

Florida heat can raise water demand quickly. Capacity, shade and redundancy matter more than following one rigid refill schedule.

What to do

  1. Keep more than one shaded water station available.
  2. Check early morning, midday and late afternoon—and more often during extreme heat.
  3. Scrub containers regularly and verify that nipples or cups still flow.
  4. Prepare stored water for outages and storms.
