Build a Pallet Garden-Tool Wall

Measurements
Mark before cutting
- Bottom edge: 8–12 inches above floor
- Anchors: into at least two wall studs
- Tool spacing: 6–10 inches
- Heavy tools: below shoulder height
Build it in order
Step-by-step instructions
Read the entire plan before making the first cut or hole. The check under each step tells you when it is ready to move forward.

Strip the hazards
Pull every loose nail, remove broken boards and sand touch points.

Locate structural framing
Find and mark at least two wall studs or structural posts; cladding alone is not enough.
- 03
Add spacer cleats
Mount level cleats to framing so hooks and handles have clearance behind the pallet.
- 04
Fasten the pallet
Lift with help and secure through pallet stringers into the cleats and framing.

Install rated hooks
Place hooks for each tool’s shape and weight, keeping blades low and inward.

Load one tool at a time
Add light tools first and inspect the mount before adding heavier items.
Use and maintenance
Keep it useful
- Outline tools or label hook positions.
- Keep frequently used tools between knee and shoulder height.
- Remove soil before hanging tools.
Safety boundaries
Know when to stop
- Do not mount to thin siding or drywall alone.
- Store blades with guards and tines facing the wall.
- Get help lifting and anchoring the pallet.
