What happens next

1. We locate the exact claim and its source.
2. We distinguish a factual error from a difference of opinion or changing conditions.
3. We correct material errors promptly when confirmed.
4. We add a correction or update note when the change affects a reader’s understanding.
5. We update the “last meaningful update” date only when a substantive review occurs.

Typographical changes that do not affect meaning may be corrected without a formal note. We do not change dates merely to create fake freshness. Developing stories identify an information-current date and link readers to the responsible official source.
